Commenting, Sarah Champion MP, said:

“President Tsai Ing-wen’s visit represents a historic moment and a testament to the values of freedom and democracy that Taiwan and the UK share.

UK-Taiwan relations have made great strides in recent years. In particular, both sides signed the Enhanced Trade Partnership in 2023 and aim to conclude negotiations on priority pillars in 2025.

UK and Taiwan’s industry strengths complement each other, and there is great potential for Taiwan and the UK to enjoy wide-ranging economic and trade ties in fields such as semiconductors, AI, advanced manufacturing, and clean energy.

The Taiwan APPG will continue to promote stronger UK-Taiwan relations and looks forward to expanding and deepening the UK’s friendship and cooperation with the people of Taiwan.”
